What is a Periodontist?
A Periodontist is a dental specialist who has successfully completed a 3-year residency program, after 4 years of dental school, focused on treating periodontal disease and the placement of dental implants. In addition to formal surgical training, Dr. Laborde received a Masters Degree for the research that he performed as a resident. He also received his board certification by the American Board of Periodontology after passing a rigorous series of written and oral examinations.
Periodontists are specialized in diagnosing, treating, and preventing periodontal disease. This is a form a of gum disease that affects the supporting tissues of the teeth including the gums and jawbone.
